Then they go within. Now sometimes people overcompensate for that by doing something gregarious. Where as, a very famous comedic actor, who I will not mention but he overcame a seriously handicapped childhood, through poverty, and now one of the most entertaining humorous around. He overcompensated for his lack as a child. Now we're looking at people who are shy. We find sometimes, men who overcompensate by being body builders. They overcompensate for that shyness by being macho. That often times, is relevant to insecurity. Overcoming that shyness, by overcompensating can be as bad or worse than the shyness itself. Accept people for what they are and they'll accept you for who you are. Shyness comes from within, not from without. People are willing to listen to what you have to say, willing to feel comfortable with you only if you feel comfortable with them.
