Hi, I'm Donna Barnes, I'm a life and relationship coach and owner of NY Dating Coach in New York City. In this clip, we'll talk about how to resolve an argument. The most important thing is to decide you want to be right or do you want to be happy? People get caught up in fighting to win because they can't be wrong, what's wrong with being wrong? If you could admit you were wrong and apologize and learn something from it and move the relationship forward, that's so much healthier for your relationship and its a lot less energy. It will make you feel better. So if you get into an argument, try not to say anything that you didn't mean, you can say a million nice things and that one mean thing is going to stick out in their head a lot longer and you can't take it back once its out there. Yeah, you can apologize but it's hard to forget it so try not to say things that are going to hurt the other's feelings. Don't say things that you don't mean and if you're in too heated of an argument, take a break, say look I need to calm down before I can talk about this. Make a time that you both sit down and talk rationally and calmly about it and really hear what the other person is saying and open your heart to them.
