Kansas City Datin Word From the Experts

My name is Pamela Spencer and I am a dating columnist and blogger at Ink Magazine in Kansas City, Missouri. And I'm Damon Smith I'm a dating blogger and columnist for Ink Magazine over in Kansas City along with Pamela as well. What's your relationship status? I'm married. Single! So you both talk to people a lot about dating here, what has been the biggest post for you or the most interesting post? We get a lot of interesting questions, one was about a college student and she was trying to figure out whether a guy liked her still, do you remember that one? Uh... They were dating and she was a shy person and he said "You don't talk enough" and they ended up breaking up. So Kansas City is, you told me this fact actually, one of the worst cities in the United States to date? Well I don't know what the most recent statistics are, but it has been ranked lower, like 38 out of 40, around there by Forbes best city for singles in previous years. I don't know what our standing is now. But we're talking about dating and there's nothing that's quantifiable. If you know how to meet people- so why are you single? Because I want to be. *Laughs* It's the honest-to-God truth. So if there was one thing based on your experience of dating here and your work of talking to people, what is the number one thing you would say you want people to know about dating in Kansas City? I would say dating is definitely hard, but don't give up. Because I've met so many couples who you know, they dated for a long time, and then they've had lots of struggles but they ended up meeting somebody great. So, don't give up, and also don't get caught up in the statistics. Because Kansas City is definitely somewhere where you can find love. I'd say thi ut yourself in positions to where you can meet people. If you get an invite to a house party, or two or three, and you don't go to any of those house parties, which to me are the best situation where you actually can meet people and talk to them in this city, then you're putting yourself at a disadvantage. So you two are people of color, and I find that kind of interesting for the Kansas City star which is like one of the major papers here. To me that's not that big of a deal because it's a matter of convenience where you've got two people who are both young, who both have a grasp of the dating scene here- he always has pop cultural references that sometimes I'm like "what are you even talking about?" One time I remember him- he made a reference to, it was right after Khloe Kardashian got married, he said "You know you really shouldn't rush things, you shouldn't jump the broom after thirty days a la Kardashian and Lamar Odom." And I was like "what?" *Laughs* Let me google it. Hey, we work well together, you know, and it kind of flows.
