Ever play the game, Who am I? Well that could be a fun way to ask somebody for a date. This is Doctor Paul, author of Boomer Girls, a boomer woman's guide to men and dating, talk show host of Ask Doctor Paul. Well, I heard an interesting story from one of my callers. He called in and said, one of my really effective ways to get a date, especially a first date, is to ask the woman if she is interested in dating a friend of his. Well, what is he like? And then he starts telling her about his attributes. Well, what's your friends name? And then he uses his name. And with the proper sense of humor she thinks that's funny and cute and then has a date with him. So that's just one of them. I had another one. We had kind of a question like this on the show. And we had a lot of interesting ideas. One was , Do you have a pet? Sure I have a pet. What's the pet's name? And then you get the pet's name and say, If I called your pet, you think the pet would go out on a date with me? And then of course, that breaks the ice and the person says, Oh, I don't know do you think the pet would bring you along? That type of thing, because humor is an interesting way to have people put their defenses down and then you can proceed from there. So that's just one suggestion of many, and give it a go.
