A famous chewing gum company once said, "double your pleasure, double your fun". What is double dating? This is Dr. Paul, author of "Boomer Girls - A Boomer Woman's Guide to Men and Dating" and host of Ask Dr. Paul. Double dating can be fun. It can be treacherous. Double dating simply means you and your girlfriend, or you and your boyfriend are going to go with another boyfriend and girlfriend and you're going out together. Keep it fun, alright? It can be filled with pitfalls, but it can be great. "Look, let's go on a double date. Let's go to the jazz concert and we'll all have a good time". Perfect. Why is it perfect? Because you're sitting there being entertained with something. There's not a whole lot of risk involved. Sometimes risk can evolve from a double dating situation, which can then result in a lose, lose. You don't want to go there. But double dating can be good if you plan it ahead. "We're going to go to a club and dance as two couples. We'll have a good time". Alright, rule number one in double dating, do not flirt with the opposite of the other couple. Bad idea. It's doom, done, kaput, don't do that. And I've heard of it happening. I've had many callers call in, "well, I went on a double date with my boyfriend and my girlfriend and she was flirting with him". Bad idea and bad idea for everyone concerned, including the boyfriend because he's guilty by the fact that he's there. He may not be flirting back, but it's all over. Often times that does happen. And so keep it in a situation where you're not actually doing a lot of communicating. You may be at an event like I said, or a movie, or something of that nature.
